Building Cloud-Native Telco 5G Convergent Charging Using Apache Ignite for Telco HA & Low Latency
The telco world is undergoing a major cloud transformation in parallel with the arrival of 5G in the network, where new use cases need to be accelerated. To achieve this, cloud-native products are required, and flexible deployment models with a high resiliency of 99.999 and very low latency are fundamental requirements. At this year’s Ignite Summit, Bernhard Kraft, leading product management of cloud-native charging evolution at Optiva, will elaborate on Optiva’s role in this critical journey. Bernard’s presentation will start by introducing different aspects of real-time charging in a distributed architecture. He will then explain the approach Optiva has taken to use Apache Ignite in its architecture, how it operates in a multi-cloud environment, and how hybrid solutions deliver key TCO savings to operators and help to mitigate significant risks in case of disasters. Bernard will wrap up by diving into learnings and challenges to meet the different real-time aspects with a cloud-native solution and where Apache Ignite plays a major role. He will share which evaluation criteria were key in Optiva's choice of database solutions, as well as his recommendations for others on this journey.
Bernhard Kraft
Bernhard has more than 15 years of experience in the telecom industry. Previously, he was a developer, solution architect, and chief architect of Redknee’s BSS portfolio. He guided the evolution of Optiva’s BSS product to cloud-native, open architecture, and private and public cloud deployment, considering carrier grade requirements.
